Dubai-based CRTS Global is growing in the pipeline coatings market with its acquisition of RAE Energy’s coatings business, the companies said in an April 9 release.

CRTS is a portfolio company of private equity firm Voyager Interests and focused on internal robotic field joint coating services for pipelines.

RAE Coatings specializes in protective external coatings for offshore pipelines, delivering solutions to customers globally, including Brazil, Guyana, the Gulf Coast, West Africa, the North Sea, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.

CRTS said the acquisition positions the company as the sole provider of complete internal and external pipeline field joint coating services and corrosion resistant solutions for the offshore sector.

Expanded services include IMPP, EMPU, IMPU, PUF, flame spray PP/PE, patented rapid 3LPP/3LPE WehoCoat and specialized custom coatings, according to the press release.

CRTS has completed coating services on more than 3 million field joints and has over 500 coating machines delivering its services worldwide.

“CRTS has been advancing field joint coating technology for more than 40 years, and we are proud to be the pioneers of untethered remote-operated robotic coating machines for internal pipeline coating applications. This acquisition now positions us better than ever to serve our customers across a broader set of services and across more geographies,” said Bryan Kirchmer, president of CRTS.

RAE Energy will now focus on expanding its nondestructive testing capabilities through Prime Inspections and UT Quality following the completion of RAE Coatings.
