London-based ContourGlobal has stepped on to the U.S. renewables scene with its acquisition of a 151-megawatt solar portfolio from Sun Tribe Development, the company said Oct. 2.
The portfolio consists of two solar projects in South Carolina. Combined, the projects are expected to provide enough electricity to power about 26,000 households, ContourGlobal said in a news release.
“This transaction, with a reliable development partner such as Sun Tribe, is the first success of ContourGlobal’s newly formed global Business Development team, which fully focuses on accelerating our growth in renewables and on the progressive decarbonization of our thermal portfolio,” said ContourGlobal CEO Antonio Cammisecra. “Our Engineering & Construction is now tasked with ensuring smooth project execution and harvesting the latest technological improvements that will come to the market as we begin construction.”
The projects, which have a power purchase agreement in place, are expected to begin commercial operations in 2029.
