The first phase of CNOOC’s Bozhong 19-6 condensate gas field development in the central Bohai Sea has begun production, CNOOC announced Nov. 13.
Located in an average water depth of 20 m, the project’s main production facilities include one newbuild central processing platform, three unmanned wellhead platforms and one gas processing terminal.
CNOOC plans 65 development wells, consisting of 42 production wells, 20 gas injection wells and three water source wells. The field is expected to reach a peak production of 37,000 boe/d in 2024.
“The project is the first condensate gas field with a proved in-place volume of over 200 billion cubic meters natural gas that has been put into operation in Bohai Bay, relying on the Bozhong-Kenli oilfields onshore power project,” CNOOC CEO and President Zhou Xinhuai said in a press release.
CNOOC Ltd. operates the project with 100% interest.
Bozhong 19-6 is one of nine fields CNOOC said in January that it aimed to bring onstream this year. Others include Lufeng 12-3, Enping 18-6 and Penglai 19-3 in China. CNOOC is a partner in South American fields that the company expected would begin production this year, including Buzios 5 and Mero 2 offshore Brazil and Payara offshore Guyana, which operator Exxon Mobil announced on Nov. 14 had begun production. Buzios 5 began production in June.
Lufeng 12-3 began production in September. Enping 18-6 went onstream in October. The Penglai 19-3 Field in the Bohai also went online in October.
