Ex-Ultra Johnson, Ex-Stephens Kuck to Replace Civitas' Tinsley

Civitas Resources Inc. tapped Brad Johnson and Brian Kuck to replace senior vice president of operations Dean Tinsley, who will be stepping down, the company said July 25.

Johnson joins the Civitas leadership team with over 25 years of industry experience. He most recently served as president and CEO of Ultra Petroleum. Meanwhile, Kuck, who also has about 25 years of industry experience, most recently served as senior vice president of business development and corporate planning at Stephens Natural Resources.

The pair also previously worked for Anadarko Petroleum earlier in their decades-long careers.

At Civitas, Johnson will serve as senior vice president of asset development, reporting to COO Matt Owens. Kuck will join as senior vice president of corporate planning and business development, reporting to CFO Marianella Foschi.

In the company release on July 25, President and CEO Chris Doyle welcomed Johnson and Kuck to the Civitas team. Their appointment is effective Aug. 8.

“Their collective experience across multiple functions within engineering, operations, and finance will help position Civitas for the future,” Doyle said in the release.

Civitas Resources is focused on developing and producing crude oil, natural gas and NGL from its position in Colorado’s Denver-Julesburg (D-J) Basin, which it built through a steady string of M&A activity over the past year.

Concurrent with the appointments of Johnson and Kuck to the Civitas leadership team, Tinsley will step down as senior vice president of operations, effective Aug. 1.

“On behalf of the board and the entire Civitas organization, I want to thank Dean for all of his efforts in establishing Civitas as the largest pure play E&P in the D-J Basin. We wish him all the best with his future endeavors,” Doyle commented in the release.

Based in Denver, Civitas also claims to be Colorado’s first carbon neutral oil and gas producer.
