Chevron Corp. named Mark A. Nelson vice chairman and executive vice president of strategy, policy and development, according to a press release on Jan. 26.
Announced ahead of the company's fourth-quarter 2022 earnings call on Jan. 27, the appointment will go into effect on Feb. 1, the release stated.
Nelson joined Chevron in 1985, granting him over 35 years of experience with the company. Through his new role, he will handle additional corporate responsibilities, as well as continue to lead the company's strategy and sustainability, corporate affairs and business development functions.
Prior to serving as executive vice president of strategy, policy and development, Nelson held the roles of executive vice president of downstream and chemicals; vice president of midstream, strategy and policy; and vice president of corporate strategic planning for Chevron.
"Throughout his career, and as a senior leader, Mark has made significant contributions to the company’s success,” chairman and CEO Michael K. Wirth said in the release. “He has worked in every segment of our business, and his results-driven approach positions him well to help execute our strategy and represent Chevron more broadly."
