Corpus Christi LNG Stage 3 Train 1 is commissioned and ready to begin commercial production, Cheniere Energy announced March 17.
Bechtel, the contractor overseeing construction, has turned the facility over to Cheniere.
Train 1 produced its first LNG in December 2024 and loaded its first cargo in February. The project began construction in 2022.
“The substantial completion of the first train of CCL Stage 3—ahead of schedule and on budget—marks another important milestone for Cheniere and further builds upon the track record of excellence in execution consistently delivered by the Cheniere and Bechtel teams,” said Jack Fusco, Cheniere’s President and CEO, in a press release.
Cheniere’s Stage 3 LNG project includes seven trains with a total production capacity of 10 million tons a year (mtpa). The overall project was 78.3% complete by the end of January, according to Cheniere.
