Cheniere Energy Inc. has made a final investment decision on the Corpus Christi Midscale Trains 8 & 9 and Debottlenecking Project at its liquefaction facility located on the La Quinta Ship Channel in San Patricio County, Texas, the company said June 24.

The two-train project will have a total liquefaction capacity of over 3 million tonnes per annum (mtpa). Located next to the Corpus Christi Stage 3 Project, Trains 8 & 9 and the Stage 3 debottlenecking projects will increase the terminal’s total liquefaction capacity to over 30 mtpa by the end of the decade. 

Bechtel Energy Inc. will now proceed with the project’s construction.

"We expect CCL Midscale Trains 8 & 9 to be executed seamlessly with Corpus Christi Stage 3, where Train 1 achieved substantial completion in March and Train 2 achieved first LNG production this month," said Jack Fusco, Cheniere's president and CEO. “We look forward to bringing this much needed new LNG supply to market safely, on time and on budget."

Cheniere is also developing a brownfield expansion at its Sabine Pass terminal. The company expects its LNG production capacity to grow by approximately 75 mtpa by the 2030’s if the expansions at both facilities are finished.

The company is updating its run-rate LNG production outlook to be in line with the new planned liquefaction capacity. The new outlook expects a 10% run-rate increase from the multiple projects to up to 63 mtpa.

Cheniere is also increasing its third-quarter 2025 dividend to $2.22 per share, up from $2.
