CenterPoint Energy Inc. has closed on a sale of natural gas distribution utilities in Louisiana and Mississippi to Bernhard Capital Partners, the utilities company announced April 1.
The sale, which includes a 12,000-mile pipeline in Louisiana and Mississippi, has cleared all federal and state regulatory hurdles, including antitrust laws and approvals from the Louisiana Public Service Commission and the Mississippi Public Service Commission.
Delta Utilities will immediately assume operatorship of the utilities to serve CenterPoint’s former customers in Mississippi and Louisiana.
“We will continue to support Delta Utilities towards a smooth transition for the benefit of the customers served in those jurisdictions,” CenterPoint President and CEO Jason Wells said in the press release.
Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
