• Chesapeake Energy Corp., Oklahoma City, has sold its Canadian subsidiary to a large Canadian energy producer. Included in the sale were proved reserves of approximately 175 billion cu. ft. equivalent of gas (77% proved developed producing) and associated acreage and facilities in the Helmet area of northeastern British Columbia. • Rider Resources Inc., Calgary, will purchase Circle Energy Inc., Calgary, for 0.42 Rider share per Circle share, or C$0.48 cash each up to 20% of outstanding Circle shares. The combined entity will produce approximately 900 BOE per day: 5.5 million cu. ft. of gas and 350 bbl. of light oil and natural gas liquids. Separately, Rider Resources will acquire Esker Resources Ltd. for 0.867 Rider share per Esker or C$0.65 cash each, up to C$7.1 million. With this deal, Rider will produce approximately 1,350 BOE per day: 8.1 million cu. ft. of gas of gas and 540 bbl. of oil and gas liquids. • Novitas Energy Ltd., Calgary, has purchased approximately 480 BOE per day from private companies for approximately C$9.2 million. Proved producing reserves are 2.8 million BOE, 95% oil, and production is approximately 430 bbl. of oil per day, in the Shaunavon area of Saskatchewan. • Denison Mines Ltd. plans to acquire Innovative Energy Ltd., Calgary, for C$4.9 million, consisting of the assumption of C$2 million in debt, C$1.9 million in cash and the rest in common stock. Innovative's reserves total 670,000 BOE. Its current production is about 215 BOE per day, 45% oil. • Rocky Old Man Energy Inc., Calgary, will acquire Rocky Layman Energy Inc. for approximately C$2.75 million. Rocky Layman holds interests in approximately 90 Alberta Crown leases covering more than 57,000 gross acres. • Fox Energy Corp., Calgary, will sell its interests in the North Veteran and Battle Creek oil properties for C$3.75 million cash. Current production is approximately 175 bbl. of oil per day. • Kicking Horse Resources Ltd., Calgary, has acquired producing assets in Retlaw, Alberta, for C$488,000, including a 41.5% working interest in 2,560 acres and two gas wells. • 1490564 Ontario Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Pifher Resources Inc., and Elgin Mitchell will acquire two shut-in gas wells and certain leases in the western part of Houghton township, Ontario, for C$90,000 cash. • Abington Ventures Inc. will acquire a 10% interest in two horizontal oil-producing wells in Weyburn, Saskatchewan, from Hellix Ventures Inc. for C$289,000. Separately, Abinton will acquire an 8% interest in a horizontal oil well in Kingsford, Alberta, from 20986578 Alberta Inc. for C$248,700. • Candorado Operating Co. Ltd. has canceled plans to acquire an interest in four wells on Owl Exploration Ltd.'s Tsuu T'ina nation oil and gas property west of Calgary. • Geodyne Energy Inc. has acquired a gas-producing property comprising 100 sections of developed and undeveloped lands in southeast Alberta. Its average working interest in the assets is 70%, and daily production will grow to 3.8 million cu. ft. of gas and 50 bbl. of oil. • Mill Bay Ventures has acquired from Black Canyon Oil & Gas Ltd. a 37.5 % working interest in certain oil and gas rights in the Manyberries area of Alberta approximately 50 miles south of Medicine Hat. • International Frontier Resources Corp. has acquired a 10.875% interest in the exploration rights to Parcel No. 6 (EL-416) in the Central Mackenzie Valley, Northwest Territories, for C$1,526,430 at auction. The rest of the parcel is owned by Northrock Resources Ltd., Anadarko Canada Energy Ltd., EOG Resources Canada Inc. and Pacific Rodera. • NuWay Energy Inc., Irvine, Calif., has purchased a 20% working interest in Westlinks Resources Ltd.'s Altares gas project in northeast British Columbia for C$874,000 cash. • Pifher Resources Inc. will acquire from Southern Ontario Natural Gas Ltd. a 100% interest of five leases, in Houghton township, Ontario. • Dennis Feuchuk has been named vice president, finance, and chief financial officer of PrimeWest Energy Inc. Feuchuk was with Gulf Canada Resources Ltd. for 26 years, most recently as vice president and controller of Gulf Canada Resources and vice president and treasurer of Athabasca Oil Sands Trust. Feuchuk will replace Susan Duncan, who is leaving PrimeWest. • Robert L. Phillips has been named president and chief executive officer of Enserco Energy Service Co., Calgary. Phillips was chairman of Epcor, president of Dreco Energy Services Ltd. and in senior executive capacities with Husky Oil. • John G.F. McLeod has been named president and chief executive officer of Rally Energy Corp. He previously was with Amoco Canada, including four years as chief engineer, and with Pengrowth Energy Trust, as director of acquisition evaluation. • Nicholas H. Gay has been named senior vice president, finance, and chief financial officer of Hurricane Hydrocarbons Ltd. Previously, he was president and chief executive officer of Bitech Petroleum Corp. • Ken McCagherty, senior vice president and chief operating officer, has been appointed to the board of Petrobank Energy & Resources Ltd., Calgary. M. Bruce Chernoff has resigned as executive vice president and chief financial officer. He will remain as a director. David Rain has been appointed vice president, finance, and CFO. • Ron McIntosh has been appointed president and chief executive officer of Ven-tus Energy Ltd., Calgary. McIntosh was executive vice president and chief operating officer at Amerada Hess Canada.
