Houston’s Black Bear Transmission LLC completed the divestiture of gas gathering assets owned by BBT Mississippi LLC (BBT MS) to Skye MS LLC of Columbia, Mississippi for an undisclosed amount, according to a June 2 press release.
The asset sale consists of more than 120 miles of natural gas pipelines and eight active metered locations. BBT MS owns and operates a fee-based, natural gas transmission system that delivers gas to utility, industrial, and power generation customers and connects wellhead production in Mississippi to regional long-haul pipelines.
BBT MS’ overall assets comprise 1,405 miles of pipeline with daily capacity of up to 830,000 MMBtu, according to Black Bear’s website. The system includes 8,101 hp of compression and 20 interstate pipeline connections.
Scott Langston, Black Bear’s senior vice president and chief commercial officer said the company has transferred more than 700 miles of supply-driven gathering pipelines, 20 compressors and 250 metering stations during the past three years.
“We will continue to identify and advance all opportunities to improve our business via corporate development and organic growth initiatives,” he said.
Black Bear CEO Rene Casadaban said the BBT MS transaction represents “continued execution of our ongoing efforts to divest non-core, production-focused assets within our pipeline portfolio.”
“We remain committed to our core business, which is to maintain and grow our substantial market-driven natural gas transmission network, while continuing to provide safe and reliable service,” Casadaban said.
Black Bear Transmission owns and operates 12 regulated natural gas pipelines stretching more than 1,900 miles with total delivery capacity of more than 2.6 Bcf/d. The pipelines are connected to 18 major long-haul pipelines that supply gas to customers in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma and Tennessee.
