Renewables developer Arevon Energy Inc. has kicked off construction of its 430-megawatt (MW) Kelso 1 and 2 solar projects in Scott County, Missouri, according to a May 1 press release.
The first phase is anticipated to begin commercial operations by year-end 2025. The second phase is expected to start operations in first-quarter 2026, the company said.
Both phases are being constructed by Primoris Services Corp.’s renewable energy business. Arevon will own and operate Kelso Solar on a long-term basis.
The development, valued at more than $500 million, marks Arevon’s first utility-scale renewable energy project in Missouri and is expected to boost the state’s solar capacity by almost 50%, Arevon CEO Kevin Smith said.
“This major project furthers Arevon’s growing presence in the Midwest region of the United States, which is a priority market for our company’s development activities,” Smith said. “Celebrating the project’s construction alongside our partners and stakeholders also gives us the opportunity to recognize the immense economic benefits the project provides.”
In addition to Kelso 1 & 2, Arevon is building four solar projects totaling 744 MW in Indiana with capital costs of more than $1.1 billion.
