APA Corp. and its partners Lagniappe Alaska LLC and Oil Search (Alaska) LLC reported their Sockeye-2 exploratory well found oil on Alaska’s North Slope.
APA, which owns Apache Corp., said the well was drilled to about 10,500 ft and found a high-quality reservoir with approximately 25 ft of net oil pay. The companies said the porosity and permeability were better than expected, with the permeability to be confirmed through a flow test.
The companies said the Sockeye prospect is amplitude-supported across 25,000 acres to 30,000 acres, and confirms the partners’ geologic and geophysical models, derisking numerous additional prospects in the area. It’s the second successful exploratory well drilled by the partnership in a 325,000-acre position on state lands. King Street-1 found oil in April 2024.
Apache holds a 50% working interest and operator Lagniappe and partner Oil Search each hold 25%. Lagniappe is an affiliate of Armstrong Oil & Gas. Oil Search is a subsidiary of Santos Ltd.
