Abu Dhabi National Oil Co. (ADNOC) has signed an agreement with Tubacex SA to localize oilfield technology in the United Arab Emirates, according to a May 21 press release.
Under the contract, ADNOC secured perpetual and exclusive rights to use Tubacex’s Sentinel Prime tubular joint connection technology, the release stated.
Oil country tubular goods are steel pipes used in drilling and completion of oil and gas wells, ADNOC said.
"This strategic partnership secures ADNOC access to an important technology for completing oil and gas wells, reinforcing our role as a reliable global energy provider and our efforts to boost domestic manufacturing capacity,” said Musabbeh Al Kaabi, ADNOC upstream CEO.
Additionally, Tubacex plans to invest in a new research and development center in Abu Dhabi to enable knowledge and technology transfer, help develop local talent and support the goals of the Make it in the Emirates initiative, Al Kaabi said.
