Technology developer 8 Rivers Capital on March 12 said it tapped engineering and consulting firm Wood for preliminary FEED work for a carbon capture project being developed in Wyoming with partner PacifiCorp.
Located at one of the utility’s brownfield power plant sites, the project will utilize 8 Rivers’ proprietary Allam-Fetvedt Cycle power cycle technology and direct-fired supercritical CO2 turbines it is developing with Siemens Energy, 8 Rivers said in a news release. The captured carbon will be used to drive turbines and generate power.
“Given our rich history with power generation and energy projects, this aligns well with our capabilities and experience,” said Frank Kalany, Wood’s vice president of thermal power. “This is a tremendous project, and Wood’s legacy of being on the forefront of innovative energy projects similar to this uniquely position us as the perfect partner for 8 Rivers and Siemens Energy.”
The pre-FEED activities are expected to be complete in 2025.
