WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR CONTRIBUTED CONTENT?
This editorial opportunity is only open to OTC exhibitors, OTC sponsors and OTC virtual exhibitors.
Per OTC, articles must be noncommercial in nature. They must be original and have not been published elsewhere (such as in a competing magazine, on a website, etc.).
Press releases should be identified as such and not submitted as a bylined article.
Stories can showcase booth demos and technical papers or be short case studies of a successful use of new technology.
Articles are published space allowing and at the discretion of the editors. Articles might be edited for style, clarity, grammar and punctuation.
Articles submitted outside of these guidelines might not be used if there is insufficient time to return for updating or for the editors to address any concerns.
Word count:
Approximately 650 words. Articles that are significantly longer might be rejected outright due to the editors’ time constraints to cut as needed.
Format:
Please submit the article
Provide a one-sentence headline and a one-sentence subtitle/deck. Refrain from including the company name in the headline or subhead as this usually results in a marketing tone.
Include a byline for the article (e.g., “Contributed by XYZ Company" or "By John Smith, XYZ Company").
Art:
Include one image if available. Graphics must
- be high resolution (300 dpi or greater);
- include a one- to two-sentence photo caption (not just a photo ID);
- be sent in a jpeg, png or tif file or high-res pdf. Images embedded in Word docs are unacceptable.
Number of articles:
Companies may contribute one article per day for a total of four articles; however, there is no guarantee all articles will be used. Again, inclusion depends on space and the discretion of the editors. If you submit more than one article, please prioritize them.
Cost:
There is no cost to submit articles for the show papers as these are editorial contributions.
WHEN AND WHERE WILL THE CONTRIBUTED ARTICLE(S) APPEAR?
Please indicate if you have a preference which day you would like your article(s) to appear, and we will do our best to accommodate the request (again, space allowing and at the discretion of the editors). Relevant articles that do not appear in the OTC Show Daily papers might appear on the HartEnergy.com website with the tag “OTC Extra.”
All editions of the OTC Show Daily will be posted to the Hart Energy and the OTC websites. Social media will also push out links to the papers during the show.
WHAT IS THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT CONTENT?
Preview edition: Submissions for the preview (Monday) paper are due no later than July 9. The preview issue is preprinted, so the deadline is well in advance of the conference. This paper will be available to conference attendees at the show on Monday morning, Aug. 16.
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday editions: Submissions for the Day 2, 3 and 4 papers are due July 19 for the best chance at inclusion.
Live coverage/late-breaking news: The Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday editions will be finalized during the conference. The deadlines for late-breaking news and coverage of live events are
- Deadline for the Tuesday paper: noon on Monday, Aug. 16
- Deadline for the Wednesday paper: noon Tuesday, Aug. 17
- Deadline for the Thursday paper: noon Wednesday, Aug. 18
CAN PRESS CONFERENCE INFORMATION BE INCLUDED IN THE PAPERS?
Please advise in advance if you will have a press conference during the show, and we will try to have an editor attend. For best chance of inclusion of your news in the papers, please submit a press release (which can be embargoed) in advance of the show.
