SK Earthon announced Sept. 25 that its operated Lufeng 12-3 field in block 17/03 in the South China Sea has begun production.
Field partner CNOOC said the field, located in about 240 m water depth, is being produced to an FPSO and a wellhead platform. In total, the partners plan to produce the field with 13 wells and achieve peak production of 29,500 bbl/d in 2024.
SK Earthon found oil in the block in 2018.
According to CNOOC, the project is the largest jointly-developed oilfield in the South China Sea in the last decade.
SK holds 39.2% and operates the field, while CNOOC holds 60.8% interest.
