SCAN Geophysical ASA (SCAN) today announced that it has been selected by GX Technology (GXT) to acquire up to 5,400 miles (9,000 km) of long offset 2-D data

offshore East Africa as part of GXT’s East AfricaSPANTM program.

Acquisition of the program is underway and is estimated to take another six weeks to

complete. SCAN’s 2-D vessel, the M/V Geo Searcher, is conducting the survey using a long-offset streamer and a high-output source. This is the second 2-D survey SCAN has

conducted for GXT within the last 12 months. The company successfully recorded

approximately 10,350 miles (17,000 km) for GXT offshore India between February and October 2006 using the same vessel. GXT is now selling data from this ultra-deep, multi-client library under the IndiaSPANTM name to oil & gas companies around the world.

SCAN Geophysical ASA was established in 2002 as a Norwegian seismic data

acquisition company specializing in both marine streamer seismic and ocean bottom seismic. The company is currently operating one 2-D and one 3-D streamer vessel and will soon launch three new state-of-the-art 3-D vessels and one 2002-built 2-D vessel.
