DNO ASA announced an oil and gas discovery on the Ringand prospect in the Norwegian North Sea on Dec. 17. Preliminary estimates of gross recoverable resources are in the range of 2 MMboe to 13 MMboe, with a mean of 10 MMboe.
The discovery is DNO’s ninth in the area surrounding the Troll and Gjøa production hubs since 2021. Discoveries in the Troll-Gjøa area make up the largest share of DNO’s net contingent resources in the North Sea, which stood at 132 MMboe at year-end 2023.
Earlier in December, the company announced a discovery in its Othello prospect in the southern North Sea.
The Norwegian company’s wholly-owned subsidiary DNO Norge AS holds a 20% interest in the Ringand discovery. Operator Equinor Energy AS owns 60%. Petoro AS owns 20%. The companies will consider tying back the discovery to future infrastructure in the area.
