BW Energy has discovered oil on the Bourdon prospect in the Dussafu license offshore Gabon, the offshore E&P said March 7.
Evaluation of logging data and formation pressure measurements confirm approximately 34 m of pay in an overall 45-m hydrocarbon column in the Gamba formation. It’s the largest hydrocarbon column discovered to date in the Dussafu license. The well was drilled by the Norve jack-up rig to a total depth of 4,135 m.
Bourdon is about 15 km west of the BW Adolo FPSO and 7.5 km southeast of the MaBoMo offshore production facility.
“The Bourdon appraisal well again confirms the significant resource potential of the Dussafu license, which holds multiple additional prospects,” said Carl K. Arnet, CEO of BW Energy. “Initial data indicates the potential for establishing a new development cluster with a production facility following the MaBoMo blueprint.”
BW Energy Gabon SA holds a 73.5% operated interest in the Dussafu license. Panoro Energy owns 17.5% and Gabon Oil owns 9%.
