EOG and BP’s Mento development offshore Trinidad and Tobago has safely delivered first gas through connection of the initial discovery well, BP said May 29.
Mento is a 50:50 joint venture between EOG Resources Trinidad Ltd. and bpTT, which is owned 70% by BP and 30% by Repsol. EOG is the operator of Mento.
The companies will now begin the drilling campaign for the remaining seven gross wells on the platform.
“For bpTT, this represents our second start up this year and it is tangible proof of the benefits of partnering with others to bring much needed gas into production,” bpTT President David Campbell said.
“The bpTT/EOG partnership is progressing well as we continue to work on our next joint venture project Coconut,” Campbell said. The Coconut development is expected to start up in 2027.
bpTT currently operates 12 offshore platforms, three subsea installations and two onshore processing facilities off of Trinidad’s east coast.
