Tumbleweed Midstream was founded in 2019 by Durell J. Johnson, a veteran of helium extraction, natural gas processing and the midstream energy sector. The company was created for the express purpose of acquiring the Ladder Creek Helium Plant and Gathering System from DCP Midstream. Tumbleweed closed on the acquisition of the Ladder Creek assets in December 2019.
