Description
Yates Petroleum Corp., Artesia, N.M., plans a 10,650-ft. wildcat for New Mexico's Eddy County more than 20 miles west of Carlsbad, reports IHS Inc. It will drill #1 Recif Federal State Unit in Section 7-23s-23e, targeting Morrow. In 1964, #1 Wagontire Unit was drilled and abandoned 1.67 miles southeast. It was reentered in the early 1970s and produced 11.68 million cu. ft. of gas as part of Eddy Field between 1972 and 1974. Yates also plans #1 Leonardo BLK Federal Com almost 15 miles southwest of Loving, also in Eddy County. The well is in Section 28-25s-27e. Recently opened Hay Hollow West Field is 1.5 miles north-northwest. There, #1 Hayhurst 16 State was tested flowing 1.5 million cu. ft. of gas and 8 bbl. of 61.7-gravity condensate a day with flowing tubing pressure gauged at 1,132 psi on a 23/64-in. choke.
