Drilling Activity Summary

Description

In production license PL 248 in the North Sea, Wintersall AG completed a wildcat well, #35/11-18 and appraisal well #35/11-18 A, which are west of Vega Sor Field. At #35/11-18, the well encountered the Brent group with a thickness of 275 m with moderate-to-good reservoir quality. It also hit columns of light oil in Tarbert (11 m) and Oseberg (3 m). In a secondary exploration target, the well encountered an 8-m hydrocarbon column with good-to-poor reservoir quality. The objective of appraisal well #35/11-18 A was to investigate the extent of the reservoir and the hydrocarbon columns. The well proved oil and gas in two Upper Jurassic (Heather) Sandstones with net thicknesses of 33 and 24 m, respectively, with poor-to-good reservoir quality. The well encountered 270 m of oil throughout the Brent group. The well also hit a 46-m column with light oil in the Lower Jurassic (Cook). Preliminary estimates for the discovery are 1-3 MMcm of recoverable oil. The #35/11-18 was drilled to 3,709 m. The #35/11-18 A was drilled to 3,874 m and area water depth is 366 m. Wintersall is based in Kassel, Germany.
