Denver-based Western Oil Exploration Co. has applied for a drilling permit for a wildcat in an undrilled township in Nevada's Newark Valley. The #25-1 Scott-Federal, Section 25-17n-56e in White Pine County, will be vertically drilled to a proposed total depth of 10,000 ft. No objectives were disclosed and it is on federal mineral lease NVN-82639. Nearby production is about 45 miles to the south in the Nye County portion of Trap Spring Field in Railroad Valley. Nearby drilling is within 8 miles to the north-northwest at #21-1 Pancake-Summit in Section 21-18n-56e. The well was completed 2007 as a 6,000-ft dry hole.
