IHS Markit reported that State College, Pa.-based Eclipse Resources Corp. has exceeded a record for lateral length on the company’s Utica Shale acreage in Ohio. In Guernsey County, an operations update indicated that #11H Outlaw C was drilled to an approximate total depth of 27,750 ft, with a horizontal lateral extending 19,500 ft. The company noted that the “super-lateral” well in its Utica Shale condensate area was drilled in 17 days from spud to total depth. In May, the company’s offsetting #3H Great Scott was drilled to 27,400 ft, with a horizontal lateral extending 19,300 ft. At the time, #3H Great Scott was the world’s longest onshore lateral ever drilled, according to Eclipse.
