In Greene County, Pa., Rice Energy Inc. announced production results from a Utica Shale well in the Pennsylvania portion of the play. The #50U John Briggs was completed with a 5,800-ft lateral and 41 fracture stages. After a 60-day test period, the well is currently producing under the company's design-restricted choke rate of 12 MMcf/d of gas with 8,000 psi of flowing casing pressure and favorable pressure declines, according to Rice. The discovery had a planned depth of 18,831 ft, 12,850 ft true vertical, and is in Section 4, New Freeport 7.5 Quad, Aleppo Township. Rice's headquarters are in Cannonsburg, Pa.
