Drilling Activity Summary
Description
A Williamson County (RRC Dist. 1), Texas, wildcat test has been scheduled by Denver-based U.S. Energy Corp. of America Inc. The company’s #1 Schneider Unit will be on a 218.7-acre Southwest Texas lease in Section 56, Jehu Bevil Survey, A-59, and the planned depth is 4,500 ft—a successful shallower completion would extend Thrall Field to the west. Numerous shallow tests have been drilled just west of U.S. Energy’s scheduled venture—earlier drilling in the area reached depths of 1,200 ft or less. Thrall Field was opened in 1915 and a shallow Cretaceous reservoir has produced 1.1 MMbbl of crude.
