Drilling Activity Summary

Description

Three exploratory tests in Warrick County, Ind., have been scheduled by Newburgh, Ind.-based Brookston Resources. All wells are permitted to 2,500 ft and the wildcats are targeting McClosky Lime. The #1 Helmer will be in Section 11-7s-8w. The #2 Helmer will be in Section 11 and the #3 Helmer will be in Section 11. Nearby drilling is at a few dry holes just east of Brookston’s proposed McClosky Lime program. The most recent test was drilled in 1992 at #1 Dorothy L. Winkler in Spencer County. It was drilled to 1,500 ft in the Barlow Lime. Other wildcats in the area were abandoned at depths of 1,200 ft or less. Oil production in Spencer County’s Hatfield Field is about 1 mile to the northeast. Opened in 1939, wells in the reservoir yield crude from Waltersburg at around 1,000 ft.
