Chief Oil & Gas Inc. has staked a horizontal exploratory test in Sullivan County, Pa. Chief's #1H Marquardt Unit is planned for a lease in Section 2, Sonestown Quad, Davidson Township. In 2009 Chief drilled #1H Warburton Unit in Lycoming County to 10,857 ft., 7,463 ft. true vertical. The initial vertical pilot hole was drilled to 7,687 ft. and additional well information is not available. About 3 miles farther to the southwest, horizontal #3H Kensinger Unit was tested earlier in 2010 flowing an unreported amount of gas from the Marcellus after drilling to 10,802 ft., 6,938 ft. true vertical. Also in Lycoming and nearby Columbia County, XTO Energy (now a unit of ExxonMobil) has several wells planned.
