Description
Shell Oil Co. is under way at the first of two recently permitted development tests on Alaminos Canyon Block 857 in the Lower Tertiary Perdido project. The #7GD OCS G17565 is in the central portion of the tract. Shell also plans to drill #6GD OCS G17565 less than 1 mile to the west. Water depth in the area is 8,400 ft. The Perdido area is made up of numerous Lower Tertiary wells in Great White (Block 857), Tobago (Block 859) and Silvertip (Block 815) fields. Shell’s wells produce through perforations at 14,000-18,900 ft. Area production is tied back to the Perdido spar on Block 857. First production from the floating facility was reported in 2010.
