IHS Markit announced that Houston-based Navigation Petroleum LLC has been granted drilling permits for 12 extended-reach horizontal exploratory tests in a southwestern Powder River Basin. The Natrona County, Wyo., ventures will be drilled from two common drillpads in Section 25-39n-78w. There are six horizontal tests per pad—three in Niobrara, two in Frontier and one in Shannon. The ventures are on the company’s Chase-Federal leases. Bottom-hole locations of the 12 wildcats are generally to the south in Section 36-39n-78w. The proposed true vertical depth of the Shannon tests is 2,908-13 ft, the Niobrara tests, 4,413-22 ft, and the Frontier tests, 5,497-5,506 ft.
