Description
Southwestern Energy Production Corp. has filed a permit to drill a Lower Smackover Brown Dense exploratory well in Columbia County, Ark. The horizontal wildcat will be in Section 7-19s-21w and the proposed true vertical depth is 11,300 ft. If the permit is approved, #1-7 McMahen 19-21, would be the company's second Lower Smackover Brown Dense venture in the state. The company's other successful Lower Smackover Brown Dense wells are to the southeast in Louisiana's Claiborne and Union parishes. There has been no previous drilling in Section 7. In Section 18, immediately south of the Houston-based operator's proposed horizontal venture, is a vertical wildcat drilled in 1983: #18-1 R.G. McMahen reached 6,254 ft. in Pettet and recovered some oil during swab tests at 5,956-66 ft.
