Pecos County, Texas Gas Discovery Produces from Acidized Ellenburger
Drilling Activity Details
Drilling Activity Summary
Description
A Pecos County (RRC Dist. 8), Texas discovery was reported by Midland, Texas,-based V-F Petroleum Inc. The West Texas producer, #1 University 6, was tested flowing 252 bbl. of 39.2-degree-gravity oil, 300,000 cu. ft. of gas and no water per day. According to IHS Inc., the venture is producing from acidized Ellenburger perforations at 6,858-6,918 ft. The flowing tubing pressure was 600 psi when tested on a 12/64-in. choke. The vertical well was drilled to 6,925 ft. on an 803.49-acre Central Basin Platform lease comprising all of Section 6, Block 20, University Lands Survey. The discovery has been designated the Bootleg Canyon Field opener by the Texas Railroad Commission. According to partner Victory Energy Corp., the Tunis Creek prospect's reserves could exceed initial estimates (pre-drill internal total prospect reserve estimates exceeded 500,000 bbl. of oil) and the companies will begin evaluating locations for a second well on the acreage. Several additional wells could be drilled if production warrants. Victory, through its partnership with Aurora Energy Partners, holds a 5% working interest and a 3.75% net revenue interest in the Tunis Creek prospect. The company acquired its interest from operator V-F Petroleum.
