Description
China National Offshore Oil Corporation reported an oil discovery in the South China Sea. Exploration well #1-LN20-2 is in the Liuhua 20-2 structure on Northern Slope Belt of Baiyun Sag in the Pearl River Mouth Basin. Area water depth is approximately 390 m. It was drilled to 2,970 m and hit oil pay zones with a total thickness of 35.2 m. The well flowed 8 Mbbl/d of crude. The new discovery is approximately 20 km from the Liuhua 19-5 Gas Field. Beijing-based China National Offshore Oil Corporation is the operator of the Liuhua 20-2 Field with 100% interest.
