Drilling Activity Summary

Description

Sydney-based Oil Search reports its first Alaska North Slope wildcat, #1 Mitquq in Section 3-11n-7e, Umiat Meridian. The well has penetrated its primary objective in a Nanushuk reservoir separate from the Pikka Development Nanushuk reservoir. According to the company, wireline logs and pressure and fluid sample data were acquired, and preliminary analysis indicates a 60-m net hydrocarbon column within the Nanushuk interval. Oil Search plans to drill deeper, to evaluate the Alpine C secondary reservoir objective, and then sidetrack the well to appraise the Nanushuk discovery. A flow test will be conducted to determine deliverability. If testing is successful, the resource could provide high-value, tie-back volumes to the planned Pikka Unit infrastructure. The #1 Mitquq was directionally drilled approximately 3,083 ft east-southeastward to a bottom-hole location in Section 2-11n-7e and the planned true vertical depth is about 7,000 ft. According to the company’s approved lease plan of operations for the Mitquq project, the well also will gain a sidetrack drilled in sections 3 and 10-11n-7e.
