Description
Houston-based Apache Corp. announced an oil discovery on Block 9/18a Area-W in the U.K. sector of the North Sea. The #1 Gartens exploration well is on the Garten prospect and targeted a downthrown structural closure and encountered more than 700 ft of net oil pay in stacked, high-quality Jurassic-aged sandstone reservoirs. The recoverable resource is expected to exceed 10 MMbbl of light oil. Apache has a 100% working interest in the block and is the company’s fourth commercial discovery in the Beryl area since 2015 where play types range from Tertiary to Triassic.
