IHS Markit reported that Oklahoma City-based Noble Energy Inc. has received drilling permits for 20 horizontal wildcats targeting Niobrara, Frontier and Mowry oil zones in a southwestern Powder River Basin in Wyoming. The Johnson County ventures will be drilled from a common drillpad in Section 2-43n-80w on the company’s Havanese leases. The wells will be drilled generally southward to bottom-hole locations in Section 11-43n-80w. Of the 20 horizontal tests, eight will be drilled in Niobrara, four in Frontier and eight in Mowry. Proposed measured total depths range from 21,848 to 23,601 ft. True vertical depths are anticipated at 11,478 ft for Niobrara, 12,272 ft for Frontier and 12,857 ft for Mowry.
