Description
Another discovery was announced by ExxonMobil Corp. at the offshore Guyana’s Stabroek block. The #1-Hammerhead encountered 60 m of high-quality, oil-bearing sandstone. The latest well is about 14 km south of #1-Liza and was drilled to 4,225 m and is in 1,150 m of water. According to the Houston-based company, there is potential for additional production from undrilled targets and the company plans additional exploration and appraisal drilling. A second exploration vessel will begin drilling at the Pluma prospect, which is about 27 km north of the discovery at #1-Turbot. ExxonMobil is the operator with 45%, and partners Hess and CNOOC with 30% and 25%, respectively.
