Description
A new oil field discovery in Block 16 of offshore Angola's Lower Congo Basin was announced by Maersk Oil. The #1-Caporolo is an exploratory stepout on a separate structure adjacent to the Chissonga discovery in Block 16. The well was tested using a 36/64-in. choke and flowed 3,000 bbl. of oil per day. The well is in 1,235 meters of water and was drilled to 508 meters. The Copenhagen-based company is planning additional appraisal and evaluation of the discovery. Maersk Oil is operator with 65% in partnership with Odebrecht Oil & Gas Angola (15%) and Sonangol P&P, holding 20%.
