Drilling Activity Summary

Description

At a remote wildcat in Nye County, Nev., Empire Petroleum Corp. is setting production casing in a volcanics zone in the nonproducing Gabbs Valley. The #2-12 Paradise Unit, drilled in Section 12-12n-34e in the Paradise Federal Unit, is a 6,500-ft. test to a Triassic section on the Cobble Cuesta structure. The Tulsa-based company recovered a small amount of 30-gravity oil during testing and drilled an additional 93 ft. deeper where numerous oil shows were recorded. The well lost circulation, which indicated a zone of considerable fracturing. After circulation problems and excellent oil shows the company will attempt a completion at 4,248 ft. Oil production in Nye County's Railroad Valley fields is about 140 miles to the east-southeast. Production also occurs about the same distance to the northeast in Eureka County's Pine Valley.
