Description

IHS Markit reported that St. George, Utah-based Cobalt Group LLC has staked a 4,000-ft wildcat in Navajo County, Ariz. The objectives of #20-22-4-1 Cobalt, which will be in Section 4-20n-22e, were not disclosed. The company’s drilling permit noted the project would evaluate oil, gas, carbon dioxide and helium zones. It’s in an undrilled township 1 mile south of the Navajo Indian Reservation and 7 miles west of the Petrified Forest National Park. There is no oil or gas production in the area. The Cobalt wildcat is about 105 miles south-southwest of Dineh-Bi-Keyeh Field in Apache County, which has produced about 18.8 MMbbl of oil, 6.6 Bcf of gas and 6.9 MMbbl of water from Hermosa (Paradox-Pennsylvanian) between 2,800 and 4,300 ft
