Stephens Production Co. has received a drilling permit for a northern Powder River Basin wildcat in Powder River County, Mont. The #13-7 Big Jake-Federal will be in Lot 3 of Section 7-8s-53e with a planned depth of 4,950 ft to evaluate Muddy Sand. Nearby drilling is within one-half mile to the northwest of a 6,900-ft dry hole at #12-17 Federal. It was plugged in 1988 after several drillstem tests were conducted in Lower Cretaceous Muddy Sand and Pennsylvanian Minnelusa Sand. Stephen Production’s headquarters are in Fort Smith, Ark.
