Castex Energy Inc. reported a Miocene discovery that opened Bayou Goreau Field in Louisiana state waters, just off the coast of Terrebonne Parish. The #1 State Lease 21615 was tested flowing 744 bbl of 45.1-degree-gravity oil and 6.757 MMcf of gas per day from Discorbis (Miocene) at 17,244-17,370 ft. The directional venture was drilled to 17,943 ft with a true vertical depth of 17,622 ft. It is in irregular Section 34-21s-13e, adjacent to irregular Ship Shoal Block 6. Tested on 17/64-in. choke, the flowing tubing pressure was 4,534 psi and the shut-in tubing pressure was 5,493 psi. Castex is based in Houston.
