Description

In Section 3-9s-4e of Williamson County, Ill., Pioneer Oil Co. plans to drill a 3,100-ft wildcat. The #1-3 Perry Community is targeting McClosky Lime oil pay. Two wildcats have been drilled in Section 3, which is northeast of the planned venture. The #1 Motsinger-Moulton was drilled to 2,967 ft and was abandoned in 1956. Some shows of oil were encountered in Benoist Sand at 2,635-47 ft. In 1954, #1 Duty in Section 3 was drilled and abandoned at 2,972 ft. Nearby production is about 2.5 miles to the northwest in Corinth Field, which was opened in 1957. Wells in the reservoir produce from four Mississippian pays: Aux Vases at 2,885 ft; Ohara at 2,929 ft; Rosiclare at 2,985 ft; and McClosky at 3,075 ft. The most recent drilling in the field occurred in 1984 at #1 Mitchell in Section 27-8s-4e, which produced crude from McClosky perforations at 3,075-80 ft.
