Description

Denver-based Longs Peak Resources LLC has applied for drilling permits for six horizontal Niobrara/Codell exploratory tests in the Denver-Julesburg Basin. The wells will be drilled from a drillpad in Section 27-12n-67w of Weld County, Colo. The proposed extended-reach horizontal ventures are #2722-8CH; #9NH; #10CH; #11NH; #12CH and #13NH Windom East. There will be six Niobrara tests and six Codell tests and will be drilled northward to bottom-hole locations in Section 22-12n-66w. The Niobrara ventures will be drilled to 19,000 ft with true vertical depths of about 9,328 ft. The Codell ventures will be drilled to 19,200 ft and true vertical depths of about 9,472 ft. The wildcats are in a non-producing township, in which the northern half is in Laramie County, Wyoming and the southern half is in Weld County, Colorado. Nearby production in Wyoming is nearly 8 miles to the northwest in Borie Field, a J sand and Muddy oil pool.
