Refugio, Texas-based Hilcorp Energy Co. is underway at the second of three planned Frio oil tests in the Hartburg Field area in southern Newton County (RRC Dist. 3), Texas. The #1 Hinrichs has a planned depth of 9,000 ft. The directional test is being drilled on a 60-acre Upper Texas Coast lease in the J.A. Kelly Survey, A-854. The offsetting #1 Brinson was drilled earlier in 2017 with few details available. It was scheduled to reach 8,000 ft. Nearby production is to the south at a Hartburg North Field well completed in 1958 at #1 J.E. Joiner Unit. It was tested flowing 150 bbl of crude from Hackberry at 7,343-47 ft.
