Drilling Activity Summary

Description

Two deepwater permits have been approved for New York City-based Hess Corp. for its Stampede development in Green Canyon Block 512. The #2SA OCS G26315 and #2SB OCS G26315 will be in more than 3,500 ft of water and will be drilled from separate surface locations in the northern portion the block. Both tests are expected to target Miocene at about 30,000 ft. According to IHS, the Stampede project is a joint development of the Knotty Head and Pony discoveries. Hess owns a 25% working interest and operates the deepwater field. Project partners each with 25% stakes include Chevron, Nexen Petroleum Offshore USA and Statoil. Total recoverable resources for Stampede are estimated at 300-350 MMboe. The Knotty Head discovery was drilled in 2005 from a surface location just northeast of the planned #2SB2. The discovery well, #1 (BP2) OCS G26315, hit approximately 600 ft of net pay oil sand after being drilled to 34,189 ft. Numerous appraisal tests have been drilled surrounding the discoveries.
