Description
Stavanger-based Equinor has scheduled the first exploratory test on the company’s three-block Monument prospect. IHS Markit reported that #1 OCS G35081 will be drilled in the northwestern portion of Walker Ridge Block 316, with a planned bottomhole to the north in Walker Ridge Block 272. Water depth in the area is 6,300 ft. Block 316 was added to the Monument prospect in early 2019. The initial drilling plan was filed in 2015 by the company and included Block 272 and Block 271 (OCS G35080) to the west. One Lower Tertiary test has been drilled on Equinor’s prospect. In 2008, Chevron’s #1 OCS G25246 on Block 316 was abandoned at a total depth of 33,277 ft.
