Drilling Activity Summary
Description
In Cass County (RRC Dist. 6), Texas, Barrow-Shaver Resources Co. of Tyler, Texas, has made a Cotton Valley oil discovery at #1 Watson. It was tested flowing 26 bbl of 50.8-degree-gravity crude, 30 Mcf of gas and 18 bbl of water per day through acid-treated perforations at 11,422-53 ft. Tested on a 12/64-in. choke, the flowing tubing pressure was 50 psi. The 11,555-ft discovery was drilled on a 43.75-acre lease in the Andrew Hampton Survey, A-453. Fewer than 10 wildcats have been drilled within five miles of Barrow-Shaver's discovery. About four miles to the southwest is a deeper Cotton Valley wildcat abandoned in 1979 at the 11,350-ft #1 Phil Simpson.
