Drilling Activity Summary
Description
A Middle Miocene gas test in eastern St. Mary Parish has been scheduled by Byron Energy Ltd. in an attempt to reopen Shell Island Field. The #1 Weiss-Adler will be directionally drilled in irregular Section 7-18s-12e with a proposed total depth of 18,700 ft, 18,406 ft true vertical. In 1970, an offsetting vertical test was drilled at #1 Rose P. Feitel — it was abandoned at 10,515 ft with no other details available. The only two wells in Shell Island Field about 3 miles generally northwest of Byron Energy’s new location: #1 Citrus Land Co in Section 1-18s-11e was tested in 1980 flowing 5 MMcf of gas and 339 bbl of 47.6-degree-gravity crude per day from Middle Miocene at 13,912-22 ft and #1-A Citrus Land Co in Section 2 was completed in 1968 flowing 3.3 MMcf of gas and 210 bbl of condensate from Middle Miocene at 13,816-44 ft. Current production in this part of South Louisiana is to the east in Terrebonne Parish’s Deer Island West Field where wells in the reservoir produce crude from Middle Miocene at 11,900-14,000 ft. Byron Energy’s headquarters are in Lafayette, La.
